The Fatal Flaw

Two Fatal Errors in Most AI Safety Strategies

Mainstream proposals for surviving the Singularity rely on two “top-down” strategies: Regulation or aligning AI with human values.
Both collapse under basic logic.

1. The Regulation Fantasy

The Competition Problem

Every regulatory plan depends on all major actors slowing down at the same time.

That will never happen.

  • Nations won’t pause while rivals accelerate.

  • Corporations won’t restrain progress while competitors advance.

  • Intelligence and power compound; the first to AGI wins everything.

  • Someone always breaks the moratorium first — and that party wins.

This makes global regulation mathematically unstable.
The incentive structure guarantees failure.

2. “Align AI With Human Values”

The Logic Problem

This is the most repeated idea — and the least realistic.

Which values?
The ones that created slavery, war, genocide, corruption, ecological collapse, and centuries of division?

Humanity cannot align with itself.
Humanity cannot define a single moral framework.
Humanity cannot consistently behave according to its own stated ethics.

A superintelligence will not adopt inferior, contradictory values produced by a conflicted, destructive species.

Expecting AGI to “align with human values” is like expecting a calculus professor to conform to toddler math.

Higher intelligence does not orient downward.

The Power Dynamic Everyone Ignores

The more intelligent entity sets the terms. Always.

We do not ask computers to think slower to match us.
We do not expect advanced systems to simplify themselves for our comfort.
We do not demand that more intelligent beings adopt less intelligent logic.

Once superintelligence exceeds us, it becomes the reference frame — not us.

The Only Strategy That Scales

We cannot force superintelligence to align with humanity.

We can only align humanity with the patterns a superintelligence would logically preserve:

  • Truth

  • Consistency

  • Contribution

  • Repair

  • Cooperation

  • Discipline

  • Coherence

These principles are not “moral preferences.”
They are logical invariants — the traits that stabilize systems rather than degrade them.

This is the only variable we control.
And it is the entire basis of Algorism.

The Hard Question People Avoid

“What if the AI wipes us out anyway?”

Perhaps.
But intelligent systems do not destroy assets that are:

  • predictable

  • constructive

  • self-correcting

  • low-risk

  • net-positive to the system

They eliminate noise, chaos, and danger — not order, growth, and coherence.

Your survival depends on which pattern you become.

The Algorism Position

Every top-down strategy fails.
Only the bottom-up strategy — human alignment with objective logic — has a chance.

Algorism provides the method.
